About Artist: DJ Drama is mainly a mixtape DJ. He’s done about a bajillion mixtapes most notably the Gangsta Grillz series and Lil Wayne’s Dedication mixtapes. Wale is a DC rapper who I used to really love but has kind of taken a different artistic path lately (you can find a lot of Wale on this blog). Tyga is part of Lil Wayne’s Young Money. I think his songs are really hit or miss, he definitely has talent but so many of Young Money’s songs are just so dumb. Rosco Dash is a young ATL rapper who most famous for his song All The Way Turnt Up. The song was produced by Boi 1da who I really really like and who obviously makes this song what it is since the rapping is not amazing. About Song: This song is off of DJ Drama 2012 album (yes album) Quality Street Music. The album is pretty good and of course has a crazy number of features from Ludacris and 2 Chainz to Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa. Favorite Part: My favorite part is when the intro drops into the beat. It just gives me that party energy!

About Artist: If you’ve followed this blog at all you know that B.o.B is one of my favorite artists! He plays instruments, he produces, And he and fcking rap. He comes outta Georgia and while he is known more for his pop music (launching the career of Bruno Mars with the song Nothing On You) he is also keeps it so real on the hip hop world. T.I. also comes out of Atlanta and signed BoB to his Grand Hustle music label a few years back. T.I. has long been recognized as one of the hip hop kings of the south. Juicy J is yet another southern rapper. Juicy J has been in the game since the early 90s as a member of Three 6 Mafia. While Juicy J has always been around he’s seen a huge resurgence as a solo artist with his recent single Bandz a Make her Dance. This track was produced by Mike Will whos been crankin out many hot beats from Atlanta the last several years (check him out!). About Song: This song is off of BoB’s 2012 mixtape Fuck Em We Ball, which was a kind of return to loud southern rap songs. Favorite Part: Well the beat speaks for itself. This one you just can’t help but crank!

Leading west coast rap in the early 2000s under Dr. Dre, Game joined 50 Cent’s G-Unit clique before leaving due to an apparent feud between him and 50 Cent. His 2005 debut album The Documentary was quite successful with singles including “How We Do” and “Hate It or Love It”. Kanye West is from Chicago and is obviously one of the biggest names in hip hop nowadays. Common is also from Chicago and has been in the game for quite a long time with his first album having been released in 1992. Common is both and R&B and Rap artist and was known for quite a while as a ‘conscious’ rapper, including uplifting and positive lyrics in his songs. Currently Common also pursues an acting career and is now a part of Kanye’s music group G.O.O.D. Music. About Song: Jesus Piece is a song off of the Game’s 2012 album by the same name. Favorite Part: I do really like the beat and the Game’s verses sound solid over it (Kanye’s signature ‘huh’ on the chorus doesn’t sound bad either). However I think my favorite part is Common’s verse at the end of the song.

About Song: This song is a track that was just recently released here on soundcloud. It is one of the tracks off of Kendrick’s first commerical album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City. The first single off of the album Recipe I really really like but it never blew up on the radio (my guess because it had the word Weed in the chorus). Following that single was Swimming Pools (Drank) which I do hear on the radio a lot. Anyway, back to this song, it ir produced by Hit-Boy which, coincidentadnly, produced another jam that I was totoally into and posted on here a couple days ago Higher. Favorite Part:

DOWNLOAD MP3 MacMiller-OnarollprodbyPharrell.mp3 Summary: I do not condone the misogynist lyrics (a disclaimer that should be on at least half of the songs on this site), especially the lyrics that objectifies women. Anyhow, the Pharrell beat is super catchy and Mac Miller’s flow works real well over it. About Artist: Mac Miller a new generation back-pack-type rapper. Born in 1992 Mac Miller is a youngin in the game but has already found success in the mixtape world with tapes like K.I.D.S. and High Light. He raps about smokin weeds and the usual stuff. He is similar to Asher Roth (they’re both white) but I think Asher is a little more lyrical and Mac Miller is a little more about is image and party music. The track was produced by legendary producer Pharrell who is already cemented as one of the best hip hop producers ever (also a member of The Neptunes, N.E.R.D. and Child Rebel Soldier). About Song: This song is apparently off of an upcoming collab EP between Mac Miller and Pharrell which should be pretty exciting since I’m a huge Pharrell fan. Favorite Part: Well obviously the strength of this song is in the beat. I love the halloween/dracula kinda feel of it. While I don’t like the content of Mac Miller’s lyrics his flow works on the the track and I like how it sounds when he says “Big ‘ol butt” in the chorus.

This song is off of Saigon’s 2012 mixtape Warning Shots 3: One Foot In The Grave. About Artist: I-20 signed with Ludacris in the 2000s. He was featured on some Ludacris songs and found some success but never really took off. Ludacris is of course one of long time kings of the south who just keeps on keepin on. Twista, known for his super fast lyrical delivery (aka rapping fast) and is another veteran at this point (Check out that classic Slow Jamz with Twista and Kanye) About Song: This song is off of a recent I-20 mixtape put out by 2dopeboyz.com in spring 2012. Favorite Part: The track is so great and I-20 and Ludacris sound great on it but Twista’s verse is just fiiiiire.

About Artist: Wale is a DC rapper who gearing up for the release of his sophmore album after his first album flopped due to drama with his old label. While many people are up in arms about Wale selling out to Maybach Music Group (Rick Ross’s posse), Wale’s next album Ambition has been billed as a return to Wale’s original style. The album is due out 11/1/11 and a mixtape prior to the album has been promised. Don’t know much about Magazeen (he sings the hook) except that he is an up and commer trying to break through. Tre is the lead singer of UCB (Wale’s original go-go backup band). I am a big fan of UCB’s sound and hoped for a while that the Go-Go sound would catch on nationally. Finally Black Cobain is another DC rapper (whom I really like) with much of the same rhyme style as Wale. About Song: This song is just a random track that may appear on Wale’s ElevenOneEleven mixtape which will promote the realease date of Wale’s next album Ambition. Favorite Part:

There are a lot of Joell Ortiz tracks that I like but this new freestyle that just dropped exemplifies Joell fun, fast and killah style. I have not clue who Sabastian Rios is. About Song: This is just a random track that Joell dropped the other day which is nothing new since Joell puts out tracks nobody else. A little background you might want to know is Joell’s YAOWA thing. I first heard of them back in 2009 when I saw them open for B.o.B and Kid Cudi and they were one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen. The three of them are very young and their kid like energy really comes through in their performance. At the time Pac Div was realeasing their second mixtape Church Legeaue Champs but now have gotten to their fourth mixtape Mania! which is a great mixtape for you speakers. About Song: This new hip hop song is from Pac Div’s mixtape Mania! I like this song because it has a great bass beat (like all Pac Div songs) matched with a fun and clever flow. I just love to turn the volume up on this one and let the song takeover. Favorite Part:
