About Artist: Kid Cudi is one of the only people left from the XXL freshman class cover that I haven’t posted (Wale, B.o.B., and Drake have already been posted). Kid Cudi is signed with Kanye’s Good Music and will come out with his debut album “Man On the Moon: End of Day” this fall. Kid Cudi will also be featured on at least one song on Jay-Z’s highly anticiapted Blueprint 3. About Artist: Pharrell is an interesting character in the Hip Hop world. Pharrell started as a producer with the production duo Neptunes which has been producing mainstream hits for artists like Jay-Z, Lil Kim, Usher, Busta Rhymes, NSYNC, Clipse, P Diddy, Backstreet Boys, Ludacris and others since 1996. Pharrel also is in the very alternative Hip Hop band N.E.R.D. which has a strong cult following. As a solo artist Pharrell is no for his smooth voice and has song the hooks on songs like Jay-Z’s “I Just Wanna Love You”, and Change clothes, as well as Snoop Dogg’s “Beautiful” and “Drop it Like its Hot”. Finally Pharrel is also a fashion figure with strong skater and biker influences.

Bobby Ray has been creating self produced track since 2007 and already has five mixtapes out. Bobby Ray is a true musician who blurs the lines between Hip Hop and other genres. With his funky Atlanta style Bobby Ray is pulling Hip Hop in a new direction with fun lyrics and a disregard status quo. Besides Wale, Bobby Ray is the artist I’m really trying to push. For anyone who like this track I would very much recommend listening to his latest mixtape “B.o.B. vs Bobby Ray” which is availble here for free. Chip tha Ripper who shares the album Came Down was realeased on, is also from Cleveland and has a slow Bun B style that really bumps well About Song: This track was orginally released in 2006 on Lil Wayne’s The W. Carter Collection 2 but this remix was released on Chip Tha Ripper and Al Fatz’ Double Trouble in 2008. This song is Great to drive becuase the beat is so simple but blasts like nothing else on decent speakers. Also on this track is Kanye West. Kanye West, originally a hip-hop producer for artists including Jay-Z, NaS, and Lil Kim, was hailed for his critically acclaimed debut album “College Dropout”. Since then Kanye has had his ups and downs in the media and his most recent album was a departure from his earlier style with dark emotional auto-tune heavy tracks. About Song: With his most recent album “808s & Heartbreak” in the past, Kanye returns to his tongue in cheek style rap style on this bumpin track. Drake’s first album is set to release this fall and his single “Best I Ever Had” already plays on the radio like its the number one requested song. Drake could be considered an R&B artist but he does rap as well. About Song: Uptown (featuring Bun B and Lil Wayne) is a track off of Drake’s “So Far Gone” mixtape which came out in Febuary 2009. Wale brings the go-go beat of the DMV (DC Maryland Virginia) to national scene along with with tongue and check lines and his raw style. With his first mainstream single Chillin ft Lady Gaga, Wale’s first commercial album “Attention Deficit” comes out this September. Lupe Fiasco – Fire.mp3 (right click and “save link as”) About Artist: Lupe Fiasco. Enough said. Lupe is one of the meanest lyricists of all time. Lupe breathed life back into hip hop in 2006 with his first album “Food and Liquor” hitting it big with help from Kanye West. Lupe’s coming out with his third album this fall called LASERS. About Song:This song isn’t gonna be on LASERS but was released in mid June. There are so many great Lupe tracks and this one is just a recent one I picked. Like other Lupe songs you have to listen to this song several times just to unpack the lyrics.
